Privacy Policy
This Policy explains what Vera collects, why we use it, when it is shared, and the choices available to you.

1. Who we are
Vera AI (“Vera,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an AI-powered learning service for students. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, create an account, or use Vera’s tutoring, image, diagram, feedback, and related features.
Vera is based in Ontario, Canada. If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a privacy right, contact us at dishaandadar@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
- Your email address, password authentication record, name, account identifier, and subscription tier.
- Account settings and changes you make to your email address or password.
Learning content
- Questions, prompts, chat titles, conversation history, and Vera’s responses.
- Images you choose to upload, including worksheet photos, and text extracted from those images.
- Generated diagrams connected to Vera’s responses.
- Ratings and comments you submit about a response.
Usage and technical information
- Message and Vision-credit usage, limit-reset dates, and feature interactions needed to operate your plan.
- Basic device, browser, network, security, and diagnostic information that our hosting and infrastructure providers may process when you use the service.
- Session cookies and similar technologies required to keep you signed in, protect the service, and remember essential preferences.
3. How we use information
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and secure Vera and your account.
- Generate tutoring responses, understand images, create diagrams, and preserve your chat history.
- Apply plan limits, prevent duplicate or unauthorized requests, and manage subscriptions when paid billing is available.
- Respond to support, account, privacy, and safety requests.
- Review feedback, troubleshoot failures, improve reliability, and develop Vera’s features.
- Detect fraud, abuse, security threats, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- Comply with law and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
4. AI features and image processing
Tutoring and Vision
To answer a question, Vera sends the relevant conversation content to Google’s Gemini services. When Vision mode is used, the uploaded image is also sent so the model can understand visual content. Uploaded images are processed for the request but are not currently saved with your chat in Vera’s database, which is why an image preview disappears after a reload. Avoid including personal, confidential, or sensitive information that is not needed for your question.
OCR mode
When Vera shows the OCR badge, Tesseract.js reads text from the image on your device. The image itself is not sent to an AI vision model for that OCR step. The extracted text is sent with your message so Vera can respond. The image may still appear in your current chat interface, but OCR images are not saved with the message for later display.
Diagrams
If you request a diagram, Vera sends the related student question and Vera response to OpenAI to generate an SVG diagram. The generated diagram is stored with the relevant message so it can be displayed again without generating a new one.
Automated output
AI providers process the content necessary to return the feature you request. Vera does not use automated decision-making to make legal, employment, credit, or similarly significant decisions about you.
5. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for third-party behavioural advertising.
- Supabase, which provides authentication and database infrastructure.
- Vercel, which hosts and delivers the website and may provide operational analytics and performance monitoring.
- Google, which processes prompts and, when selected, images for Gemini-powered tutoring and Vision features.
- OpenAI, which processes the relevant question and answer when you request a diagram.
- Payment processors, such as Stripe, if and when paid subscriptions are enabled. Vera should not receive your complete payment-card number from the processor.
- Professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization with appropriate safeguards.
6. International processing
Some service providers may process or store information outside Ontario or Canada, including in the United States. Information handled in another country may be subject to that country’s laws and lawful access by its courts, law-enforcement agencies, or national-security authorities. We use providers and contractual or organizational safeguards appropriate to the services they perform.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep account information and saved chats while your account is active so Vera can provide the service. Usage records, feedback, security logs, and support records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, legal obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and enforcement.
You can delete individual chats in Vera and can delete your account from Settings. Account deletion is intended to remove your account, chats, and messages from active systems. Limited information may remain temporarily in backups or where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or an unresolved dispute. We will securely delete or de-identify information when it is no longer required.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
- Access and update certain account details through Vera’s settings.
- Delete chats, feedback, generated diagrams, or your account using available controls.
- Ask us for access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable exceptions.
- Withdraw consent to optional processing. This will not affect processing already completed and may prevent us from providing features that require the information.
- Ask questions or make a complaint about our privacy practices by contacting us. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if we do not resolve your concern.
9. Children and students
Vera is intended for students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian should review this Policy and our Terms with you and authorize your use of Vera.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Vera, contact us. We will investigate and delete the information where required. Students should not upload school records, another person’s personal information, or any sensitive information unless they have permission and it is genuinely necessary to use the feature.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password, protect your device, and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Vera changes. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice or request consent when required by law.
12. Contact us
